The Principles and Techniques of Defence in Rugby Union

In this week's Inspiring update, Paul Westgate shares his research into the principles and techniques of defence in rugby union. In his paper Paul looks at the aims of defence, what makes a successful defence, different defensive systems and defence in phase play. Although originally published in 2007, it is still relevant and useful for all coaches who want to understand better how to coach defence. Ideal background reading for all coaches who have signed up for the Mike Ford webinar on The Principles of Defence in Rugby Union on Wednesday 15 September (6.30pm to 7.30pm).
